Can sell your gold at a higher rate?

Yeah, it is easy to buy gold coins but is it equally easy to sell them without any hassles?

I believe there is a little of legwork required when you have decided to sell your precious metals collection. Buying them is easy these days. You sit in front of your computer, visit the web site of the United States Gold Bureau, browse through the catalog and take possession of shining new gold or silver coin in perfect mint condition.

However, selling them requires you to first get them appraised. You really do not need to hunt for professional gold appraisers. Just walk into your nearest bank, approach the loan officer under the pretext of pledging your gold. He will do the rest courteously.

The value won’t differ from bank to bank. Only the exchange rate might differ. If you want a higher rate than the bank, approach a goldsmith and you can strike a real deal.

Gold lived yesterday.

The fathers of yesteryear's were much wiser than fathers in 2010 including my husband. I have learnt so many things from my father whereas I don’t think my son looks upon his father for anything that he needs to learn though he promptly asks his father for money.

My father told me to keep saving in gold in small quantities and then convert them into gold coin of a reasonable weight. Since my marriage 25 years ago, I am able to deposit gold coins weighing 73 grams in safety locker. (Don’t ask me where).

My husband had never once told his son anything about saving. The only advice (?) that he keeps passing on to his son is, “Enjoy today, tomorrow never comes”.

Though there is a very basic life philosophy in what he says (we live only today, never in tomorrow), it is not a pragmatic philosophy-right?

Gold lived yesterday, lives today and will see tomorrow definitely!

If only I have learnt…

At times I feel like agreeing to the popular but not widely accepted cliché:” Women can think only belatedly”

My husband tried his best to educate me on how to spend money but I never listened to his wisdom though I appreciated at a much later stage.

When others are motivated by my husband to buy gold coins or invest in real estate whenever they had some extra money, I spent on stupid oddities that soon found refuge in the attic where gold will find its home there.

I have not been like traditional women that respect gold and silver. Whatever gold ornaments I have now are given by my father at the time of my marriage.

My husband never sold a single gram of gold in his life. I wonder what the worth of his bullion is now.
